Toppmoller: Liverpool's losing streak won't distract Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller believes Liverpool has been the superior team despite their recent four-match losing streak. Toppmoller praises Mo Salah's enduring talent despite Liverpool's current form slump.

“In every game, they've been the better team and have had more chances at goal...”

Eintracht Frankfurt's coach, Dino Toppmoller, is cautious ahead of their Champions League match against Liverpool, saying the Reds have looked like the better team despite their recent four-match losing streak.

Liverpool's surprising slump hasn't gone unnoticed, but Toppmoller isn't underestimating them. The Premier League champions have invested heavily in their squad, and Frankfurt will need to be at their best to overcome the Reds' quality.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot acknowledged that his team could have won the match against Manchester United, stating that the scoreline could have been 4-2 in their favor if they had capitalized on their chances.

The Reds' recent form has been under scrutiny, with four consecutive defeats against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, Chelsea, and Manchester United - their worst run in over a decade. Despite the losses, Slot emphasized that his team's current form isn't reflective of their overall performance.

“We're not in top form, only in the sense of our results,” Slot said, hinting that the team's actual play hasn't been as bad as the scoreline suggests.

“When you watch the games, which of course we did, you see that they seem to lack a bit of a spark at the moment,” the 44-year-old said.

“But in every game, they've been the better team and have had more chances at goal.”

“We're expecting a world-class team tomorrow,” Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller said, warning that Liverpool will arrive in Frankfurt highly motivated despite their recent struggles.

“You've got to be aware of what it does to a team to lose four in a row.”

Liverpool's struggles continue, with the team losing four consecutive games for the first time since November 2014 under former manager Brendan Rodgers. One key player who's had a dip in form is star forward Mo Salah.

Despite the dip in form, Mo Salah remains one of the top players globally, according to Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller. “He was probably among the top three players in the world over the past decade - and still is,” Toppmoller said, highlighting Salah's enduring talent.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's new signing, Florian Wirtz, is set to make his return to Germany, where he'll face his former club, Bayer Leverkusen's parent company-supported Eintracht Frankfurt isn't mentioned but rather Leverkusen isn't playing them, rather Liverpool is playing Frankfurt, with the German side likely eager to test themselves against the Premier League champions. Wirtz's move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer has been a notable transfer, with the midfielder valued at £100 million.

Toppmoller said that Wirtz's performances were “quite decent, even if he hasn't got the numbers he had in Leverkusen.

“He's at a club where the spotlight is so bright and where people across the world are always watching.

“I'm incredibly convinced of his quality. I hope he doesn't show that tomorrow, that's something we should worry about.”
