Nathan Aspinall made history by winning his third European Tour title of the season at the German Darts Championship 2025. He defeated Dirk van Duijvenbode 8-6 in a thrilling final, showcasing his exceptional skill and determination.
Aspinall's victory marks a remarkable achievement, joining an elite group of players who have won three European Tour titles in a single calendar year. This win adds to his earlier successes in Göttingen and Leverkusen, solidifying his position as a top contender in the darts world.
The final match saw Aspinall take an early lead, surging 6-2 ahead with a stunning 121 checkout. Although Van Duijvenbode mounted a comeback, Aspinall held firm, sealing the win with a clinical 74 checkout on tops. This victory not only earns Aspinall £30,000 but also boosts his confidence ahead of the European Championship.
Dimitri Van den Bergh also experienced disappointment, losing in the final of the International Darts Open in early April. Despite a strong start, he narrowly missed out on a perfect leg.
Van den Bergh was on the brink of perfection, hitting two consecutive 180s in the second leg. However, he ultimately fell short, missing the eighth dart of a potential perfect leg. The leg ultimately lasted 10 darts.
Aspinall seized control of the final at 2-2, pulling ahead with a break to lead 4-2 and then 6-2. He showcased his skill with a remarkable 301 finish in six darts, highlighted by a 180 and a 121 checkout.
