Former Celtic manager Martin O'Neill and former player Shaun Maloney will take charge of first-team matters on an interim basis. O'Neill, 73, has previously led Celtic to success, winning the treble in 2001 and guiding the team to three Premiership titles and three Scottish Cup triumphs, as well as the UEFA Cup final in 2003.
The club expressed gratitude for Rodgers' contributions during his two successful periods at Celtic, saying, “Brendan leaves Celtic with our thanks for the role he has played during a period of continued success for the Club and we wish him further success in the future.” A permanent replacement is being sought, and the club will update supporters on the appointment process as soon as possible.
