Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank praises Micky Van de Ven's impressive form and leadership, despite reported interest from Real Madrid.

I think he's been brilliant for the club since he signed, and he has taken some steps up this season...”

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is optimistic about Micky van de Ven's future at the club, despite speculation linking the defender to a potential move to Real Madrid. Van de Ven has been in outstanding form, scoring five goals in 13 appearances, including a brace in Tottenham's 3-0 win over Everton.

Thomas Frank praised Van de Ven, saying, “I think he's been brilliant for the club since he signed, and he has taken some steps up this season. I think he actually defends even better. I think he's still very good on the ball, he added the goals, the headed goals, which I'm happy with. He's a threat from set-pieces.” The coach also highlighted Van de Ven's growing leadership skills and believes he is happy at Tottenham.

With Cristian Romero sidelined due to injury, Micky van de Ven has taken on a leadership role for Tottenham, and he's expected to lead the team in the League Cup match against Newcastle on Wednesday. Despite interest from Real Madrid, Spurs manager Thomas Frank remains calm about retaining van de Ven's services. Van de Ven, who signed a six-year deal with Tottenham in 2023, has been impressive in his absence, showcasing his skills and leadership abilities.

Frank expressed his confidence in keeping van de Ven, stating that the player seems happy at the club and they're happy with him. This stability is crucial for Tottenham, especially after winning the Europa League in May. Van de Ven's impressive performances have caught the attention of top clubs like Real Madrid, but Frank's priority is to keep hold of his key players.

“Yeah, very happy with Micky. I think he has been brilliant for the club since he signed and he has taken some steps up this season,” Frank said.

“I think he actually defends even better. I think he is still very good on the ball, he added the goals and the headed goals, which I am very happy with. He's a threat from set-pieces.

“Character and leadership also growing and as far as I know, we have a good contract with him but definitely a player I see with a big future at the club.

“I think he is happy here, that is very important and we're happy with him, so let's see what happens in the future.

“I think the most important thing is it looks like he really enjoys his football, he really enjoys his time here, I am very happy with him, everyone is really happy, so that's a good sign.”
