Eddie Nketiah's 97th-minute goal sealed a dramatic 2-1 win for Crystal Palace over Liverpool at Selhurst Park, ending the Premier League champions' perfect start to the season. This victory marked a club-record 18 matches unbeaten across all competitions for Palace.

Despite dominating possession in the first half, Liverpool struggled to create clear-cut chances. Meanwhile, Palace's aggressive approach paid off early, as they capitalized on their first major opportunity in the ninth minute. Nketiah's late winner capped off an impressive performance from the home team.

Ryan Gravenberch's defensive effort on a corner kick ultimately led to Ismaïla Sarr's goal, as he diverted the ball towards the Crystal Palace attacker, who slotted home from point-blank range.

Crystal Palace had opportunities to extend their lead, with Yeremy Pino and Jean-Philippe Mateta both testing Alisson, but the Liverpool goalkeeper's saves kept his team in the game, allowing them to mount a comeback.

Alexander Isak's first Premier League start of the season was marked by rustiness, evident when he failed to capitalize on a one-on-one opportunity against Dean Henderson, shooting from a tight angle without threatening the goal.

Liverpool's best chance to level in the first half came when Ibrahima Konaté headed wide from a corner kick. As the break approached, Arne Slot's side increased the pressure, but were reminded of Jean-Philippe Mateta's quality when his curling shot hit the post.

Liverpool carried their attacking momentum into the second half, with Cody Gakpo nearly making an immediate impact as a half-time substitute, his curled shot narrowly missing the post.

Florian Wirtz also had a chance, but his volleyed effort was poorly connected, allowing Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to tip it clear. Despite Palace's threat on the counter, Liverpool continued to create scoring opportunities, with Elijah Isak failing to capitalize on another promising chance.

Federico Chiesa scored a crucial goal for Liverpool, scrambling the ball home from close range in the 87th minute. Despite concerns over a potential handball by Mohamed Salah, VAR confirmed the goal, giving Liverpool hope of salvaging a point.

However, the drama wasn't over yet. In the seventh minute of stoppage time, Eddie Nketiah sealed the win for Crystal Palace, turning home a goal that secured their second successive victory over Liverpool this season. This win propelled Palace to second place in the Premier League, just three points behind the Reds.
