Borussia Dortmund vs FC Copenhagen: Borussia Dortmund fans to boycott Champions League match against FC Copenhagen on October 21 due to unreasonable demands.

“As with the last meeting in November 2022, this match will unfortunately be under restrictions that include personalization of tickets...”

Borussia Dortmund's leading fan groups, The Unity and Desperados, have announced a boycott of the Champions League match against FC Copenhagen at Parken Stadium on October 21. The fans are protesting against unreasonable demands, specifically the personalization of tickets and deviation from the club's own ticket allocation for international away matches.

This isn't the first time The Unity and Desperados have taken such action. In November 2022, when Dortmund and Copenhagen last met in European competition, the fan groups also boycotted the match due to similar restrictions. The fans are unhappy with the requirement to show identification for personalized tickets, a practice they've long opposed.

The Unity, considered the leading Ultras group among Borussia Dortmund fans, has a known friendship with Brondby IF's Ultras, who are fierce rivals of FC Copenhagen. This solidarity reflects the fans' commitment to standing together against what they perceive as oppressive measures.

Reasons for the Boycott:

Personalized Tickets: Fans are required to provide identification, which they see as an infringement on their rights.

Deviation from Ticket Allocation: The club's usual ticket allocation process for away matches is being bypassed.

Solidarity with Brondby IF: The Unity's friendship with Brondby IF's Ultras, rivals of FC Copenhagen, underscores their united stance against UEFA and the Danish police's strict measures.

“As with the last meeting in November 2022, this match will unfortunately be under restrictions that include personalization of tickets and a deviation from the club's own ticket allocation for international away matches.”

“With that in mind, we have decided not to participate in the match on 21 October,” say the fan groups in the press release.

The Unity, a prominent Ultras group supporting Borussia Dortmund, has a well-known friendship with the Ultras of Brondby IF, who are fierce rivals of FC Copenhagen. This close relationship adds another layer to the dynamics of the upcoming Champions League match between Dortmund and Copenhagen. Given their solidarity, The Unity's decision to boycott the match in Copenhagen is likely influenced by their bond with the Brondby IF Ultras, as well as their shared opposition to certain measures imposed by UEFA and the Danish authorities.
