Alcaraz shows no signs of discomfort after ankle injury scare, beats Bergs 6-4, 6-3 to reach Japan Open quarterfinals...

Carlos Alcaraz eased fears about his ankle injury with a convincing 6-4, 6-3 win over Belgium's Zizou Bergs in the Japan Open last 16 match. The world number one had suffered an ankle injury two days earlier during his opening match against Sebastian Baez, where he crumpled to the ground and played on with his ankle heavily strapped.

Despite the recent injury scare, Alcaraz showed no signs of being hampered by the ankle injury, playing a strong match against Bergs. He dominated the game, winning 12 out of 12 service games and converting 5 out of 6 break points. Alcaraz's performance suggests that his ankle injury may not be as severe as initially thought.

Alcaraz had twisted his ankle during his opening match against Baez and received medical treatment. He later revealed that he was “scared” when he planted his ankle but felt better after receiving treatment. Alcaraz decided to skip training on Friday to rest his ankle, but he seemed to be in good shape during his match against Bergs.

Carlos Alcaraz returned to the court after a medical timeout and demonstrated no signs of discomfort, securing a win against world number 45 Zizou Bergs in a match played in front of a supportive Japanese crowd. The Spaniard's fitness was briefly questioned, but he showed no ill effects as he beat Bergs in an hour and 20 minutes.

Alcaraz will advance to face American player Brandon Nakashima in the next round, scheduled for Sunday. Despite the brief concern over his fitness, Alcaraz appeared to be in good form as he wrapped up the match efficiently.

Carlos Alcaraz took to the court with visible white strapping on his left ankle, but he showed no signs of restriction in his movement. Although he limped briefly after chasing a shot that gave Bergs a break early in the first set, Alcaraz's ankle issue didn't seem to hinder his performance. This was his first time playing in Japan, and he made a great impression on the crowd with his impressive leaping forehand winners.

Despite having his service broken twice, Alcaraz claimed the first set 6-4. He then surged ahead in the second set, but Bergs put up a gritty fight, making Alcaraz work hard for the victory. In the end, Alcaraz sealed the win 6-3 in the second set with a powerful forehand at the net that Bergs couldn't return. This victory marked a 2-0 win for Alcaraz, who now advances to the quarterfinals.

Next Challenge for Alcaraz

Alcaraz will face American player Brandon Nakashima in the next round, who defeated Marton Fucsovics 7-5, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals. This upcoming match promises to be an exciting encounter between two talented players.
