Real Madrid's coach, Xabi Alonso, has confirmed that Kylian Mbappe is not feeling anxious about winning the Champions League. Despite joining the 15-time winners from Paris Saint-Germain, who went on to win the trophy for the first time in their history last season, Mbappe seems focused on the present.

“We all feel that this is a project that's just starting, and one of the objectives at Madrid is winning the Champions League,” Alonso said. “Let's hope it's sooner rather than later. But we haven't spoken about May yet. We're talking about the near future.” Mbappe has been impressive in the league, scoring four goals in four La Liga games this season.

Alonso praised Mbappe's leadership qualities, saying, “Without doubt, he's a leader, for his personality, experience, and influence on others. He's one of them.” The coach also mentioned that Mbappe's performance at the Club World Cup was affected by gastroenteritis, but he's now showing his true potential.

Real Madrid faces a challenging Champions League schedule, starting with Marseille, followed by matches against Kairat Almaty, Juventus, and Liverpool. Alonso emphasized the privilege of managing Real Madrid in the Champions League, citing the club's rich history as a motivation.

“He's not anxious, we all feel this is a project that's just starting,” Alonso told a news conference ahead of Tuesday's opening match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“One of the objectives is to win the Champions League hopefully sooner rather than later, Kylian is part of the path to getting there, but I don't think he's anxious.

“Today we spoke about what the Champions League means, but we were not talking about May (and the final), we were talking about the near future.”

Kylian Mbappé faced his former club PSG for the first time at the Club World Cup this summer, but his performance was impacted by a stomach bug. Real Madrid suffered a 4-0 thrashing in the semi-finals, but coach Xabi Alonso attributes the loss to Mbappé's health issues. “Gastroenteritis meant it was Kylian 'lite' at the Club World Cup,” Alonso said, adding that Mbappé has since recovered and is now showing his true potential.

Mbappé has hit the ground running in La Liga, scoring four goals in four games for Real Madrid. Alonso praises Mbappé's leadership qualities, saying “without doubt, he's a leader” due to his personality, experience, and influence on the team. With Mbappé in top form, Real Madrid is looking strong as they prepare for their Champions League opener against Marseille.

Real Madrid's coach, Xabi Alonso, acknowledges the club's rich history in the Champions League, where they've won six of the last 12 titles. However, he doesn't feel extra pressure due to this success. “It's a fact, unquestionable, an honour, a motivation and it is a responsibility you live with and enjoy,” Alonso said. “It's a privilege.”

Alonso views the club's history as a source of motivation rather than added pressure. He believes that managing Real Madrid is a privilege, and the team's past successes are a driving force for the current squad. With this mindset, Alonso is focused on building a strong team dynamic and achieving success in the Champions League.
