France Squad Announced: Ekitike Misses Out on World Cup Qualifiers

Deschamps snubs Liverpool's Ekitike for World Cup Qualifiers

Didier Deschamps has announced France's squad for the World Cup qualifiers, and Liverpool's Hugo Ekitike isn't in it. Read more about the team's selection.

Hugo Ekitike won't be getting his France debut anytime soon. The 23-year-old Liverpool forward was left out of Didier Deschamps' squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Despite a promising start to the season with three goals in his first three matches, Ekitike didn't make the cut.

Deschamps cited the intense competition for attacking positions in the French team as the reason for Ekitike's omission. The experienced coach seems to have stuck with his trusted players for now. Meanwhile, another young player, Akliouche, has been called up to the squad, potentially signaling a new opportunity for the talented youngster.
