Snoop Dogg Joins Swansea City as Co-Owner with Luka Modrić

Swansea City welcomes new investor Snoop Dogg, alongside co-owner Luka Modrić, as the Championship club looks to boost its global profile and overcome financial challenges.

Snoop Dogg has taken his passion for Swansea City to the next level, joining the club's ownership group. The American rapper and producer's investment makes him a co-owner alongside Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić. This move follows Snoop Dogg's recent involvement with the team, including helping to launch their new home jersey, which sparked speculation about a deeper connection with the club.

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop Dogg said on the club's website.

”The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.”

Luka Modrić previously joined the Swansea City ownership group in April alongside American investors Andy Coleman, Brett Cravatt, Nigel Morris, and Jason Cohen. With Snoop Dogg now on board, the club hopes the hip-hop legend's global appeal will elevate their international profile. Having risen to fame with hits like “Who Am I? (What's My Name?” Snoop Dogg has become a music icon, and his involvement could bring significant exposure to the Welsh Championship side.

“Snoop's colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that,” Swansea's ownership group said.

“He has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.

“Snoop has openly shared his love of football and his desire to be involved in the game, and we expect his involvement to support us putting as competitive a team as possible out on the field.”

Snoop Dogg and Luka Modrić's investment comes as Swansea City navigates financial challenges, having reported a pre-tax loss of £15.2 million in the last financial year. The club's new ownership boost coincides with the arrival of fellow Welsh side Wrexham in the Championship, who have made a remarkable rise from the National League under the ownership of actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

With Wrexham's success in attracting a global audience through their “Welcome to Wrexham” TV series under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's ownership, Swansea City might consider a similar approach with a “Doggumentary” to capitalize on Snoop Dogg's massive following and boost their own global profile.
