George Russell secures Mercedes' first win of the season at the Canadian Grand Prix, while Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris's title hopes take a hit after a dramatic collision. Get the highlights.

George Russell secured Mercedes' first win of the season at the Canadian Grand Prix, while McLaren's Oscar Piastri extended his lead to 22 points after a dramatic late collision with teammate Lando Norris, which ended Norris's race.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who aimed for a record fourth consecutive win in Canada, finished second behind Russell.

George Russell's teammate, 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli, scored his first F1 podium with a third-place finish. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri ended up fourth after his teammate Lando Norris was involved in a collision that ended his race.

The final lap saw the safety car lead the field before peeling off to allow Russell to take the chequered flag, securing his win.

A dramatic turn of events unfolded three laps from the end when Lando Norris attempted to overtake Oscar Piastri, resulting in a collision that left Norris's car severely damaged. The Briton came to a stop by the side of the track with no front wing and a broken car.

Norris took immediate responsibility for the incident, saying over the team radio, “I'm sorry. All my bad. All my fault. Stupid from me.”

Oscar Piastri made a strategic pit stop under the safety car and rejoined with fresher tires, but the racing never resumed, rendering the advantage useless.

The rest of the top 10 saw Charles Leclerc finish fifth for Ferrari, followed by Lewis Hamilton in sixth. Fernando Alonso took seventh for Aston Martin, while Nico Hulkenberg scored solid points for Sauber in eighth. Esteban Ocon finished ninth for Haas in their 200th race, and Carlos Sainz rounded out the top 10 for Williams.
