Tests confirmed James Maddison's injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the season. The 28-year-old England international suffered the setback during Tottenham's Europa League semi-final first-leg win over Bodo/Glimt.
“Madders tweaked his knee in the first leg so he is out and will miss the rest of this season,” Postecoglou announced. This injury adds to Tottenham's woes, with captain Son Heung-min already sidelined due to a foot issue. However, striker Dominic Solanke has been cleared to play in the second leg in Norway.
“He misses out but it has always been a constant of this season. Everyone else from the first leg travelled and is ready to go.
“Disappointing for Sonny as well. He has progressed and there's a possibility of him getting some game time at the weekend but he hasn't trained with the team yet.”
Tottenham is chasing their first European trophy since the 1984 UEFA Cup and their first silverware in 17 years. However, in the Premier League, they're struggling in 16th place, with speculation surrounding Ange Postecoglou's future.
“We have to always deal with it to be fair. We will not have Sonny and Madders tomorrow, but it is on us,” goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario said. “The importance of the entire squad will be crucial,” he added, highlighting the team's reliance on their full roster amid injuries.
