Roma Edges Fiorentina 1-0, Jumps to Fourth in Serie A

Roma defeats Fiorentina 1-0 thanks to Artem Dovbyk's header, extending their unbeaten streak to 19 matches and moving into fourth place in Serie A.

Roma secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Fiorentina, moving into fourth place in Serie A. Artem Dovbyk's header proved to be the winning goal, extending Roma's unbeaten streak in head-to-head matches against Fiorentina to seven games.

The win puts Roma four points clear of Fiorentina, setting the stage for the final stretch of the season as teams battle for European spots. The outcome also awaits the outcome of other key matches, including Bologna vs Juventus.

The match was intense from the start, with Roma showing high energy, but Fiorentina's defense held firm. Lorenzo Pellegrini had early chances, but one shot hit teammate Eldor Shomurodov, and another went wide.

Freiburg's Moise Kean created the game's first big opportunity in the 27th minute, but Roma's goalkeeper Mile Svilar made crucial saves to deny him. Despite David de Gea's impressive saves, Roma couldn't maintain the scoreline at halftime. In the fifth minute of added time, Angelino's cross was headed across goal by Shomurodov, and Artem Dovbyk nodded home the decisive header.

After halftime, David de Gea quickly proved his worth, diving across his line to save Manu Kone's long-range shot. Despite Fiorentina's pressure, they struggled to create clear chances, with Amir Richardson shooting wide and Nicolo Zaniolo and Fabiano Parisi firing over the bar.

Roma's goalkeeper Mile Svilar continued his impressive performance, saving Rolando Mandragora's powerful shot. Both teams had additional opportunities, but Niccolo Pisilli and Cher Ndour failed to find the target, leaving the scoreline unchanged.

Mile Svilar made crucial late saves, denying Moise Kean twice, including a brave block at the striker's feet. Svilar's heroics secured all three points for Roma, extending their unbeaten streak in Serie A to 19 matches and temporarily boosting them to fourth place.

The loss marked Fiorentina's second consecutive defeat, leaving them in eighth place. However, they have a chance to bounce back when they host Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.
