Jack Draper Advances to Madrid Open Final

Britain's Jack Draper defeats Lorenzo Musetti to reach the Madrid Open final, setting up a showdown with Casper Ruud.

Britain's Jack Draper defeated Italy's Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 7-6 to reach the Madrid Open final. Draper will face Norwegian Casper Ruud in the title showdown after a hard-fought win that saw Musetti push him to a tiebreak in the second set.

Draper held his nerve in the tiebreak to seal the victory, overcoming some impressive tennis from Musetti. The win marks a significant milestone for Draper as he prepares to compete for the title against Ruud.

The 23-year-old British player delivered a strong performance, winning 20 points while committing 19 unforced errors in a high-quality match against Italy's Musetti. This victory improved his head-to-head record to 4-0 against Musetti.

With this win, the Brit advanced to his second Masters 1000 final of the year, showcasing his growing prowess on the ATP Tour.

Jack Draper will face Casper Ruud in the Madrid Open final after his win over Musetti. Ruud secured his spot in the final by defeating Francisco Cerundolo earlier in the day.

“I felt like both of us, our quality didn't drop from the first ball. Credit to Lorenzo, he's honestly playing so good on the clay,” said Draper, the champion in Indian Wells in March, who's set to enter the top five next week.

“I've played him on the hard and on the grass in the juniors, growing up with him. But on the clay he's a different beast and so, to get this win, on this court, in this stage, in the semi-finals of this competition, honestly it means so much to me.”
