Ikast Handball fell short in their pursuit of a European trophy, losing 34-32 to Thüringer HC in a thrilling European League final. Despite leading early, Ikast couldn't hold onto their advantage, ultimately coming up short.

Johanna Reichert was instrumental in Thüringer HC's victory, scoring 13 goals in the final, including several crucial ones in the second half. Her impressive performance helped turn the tide in THC's favor.

Thüringer HC's victory was also marked by an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Dinah Eckerle, who made several crucial saves and passes. Ikast's fortunes took a turn for the worse when line player Maria Lykkegaard was given a direct red card four minutes into the second half for striking Natsuki Aizawa in the face.

The red card weakened Ikast's defense, and THC capitalized on their mistakes. Johanna Reichert's 25-24 goal gave THC the lead for the first time since the early stages of the match. The Germans' ruthless efficiency ultimately proved too much for Ikast, and a spectacular save from Eckerle in the final moments sealed the 34-32 win for THC.
