The Italian Open semifinals are set, with Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz joining Alexander Zverev and Lorenzo Musetti in the last four.
Coco Gauff advanced to the Italian Open semifinals with a straight-sets victory over Mirra Andreeva, winning 6-4, 7-6(5). This win guarantees Gauff the No. 2 ranking in the world.
Former US Open winner Gauff said that she had “a lot of confidence” for the last four, where she could face tournament favourite Aryna Sabalenka, with the world number one taking on Zheng Qinwen later on Wednesday.

“Maybe some points weren't my best. I still managed to be successful,” said Gauff.
Coco Gauff is seeking her first title of the season, particularly timely with the French Open approaching. She previously lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the Madrid final.
Gauff's opponent, 18-year-old Mirra Andreeva, put up a surprisingly weak resistance in the first set. However, Andreeva intensified in the second, forcing Gauff through a challenging tie-break.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jack Draper 6-4, 6-4, advancing to the Italian Open semifinals and keeping his bid for a first Rome crown alive. Draper, the fifth seed, had shown strong form on clay, recently reaching the Madrid final.
The winner of the match, Alcaraz, will now face the winner of the match between reigning Rome champion Alexander Zverev and Italian favorite Lorenzo Musetti. Alcaraz's victory over Draper marked his 11th ATP Masters 1000 semifinal appearance, surpassing Jannik Sinner's record for the most semifinals reached by a player born since 2000.
Alcaraz praised Draper as “one of the best players in the world” before their match, and the Briton indeed put up a fight. Draper broke Alcaraz's serve early in the first set but failed to capitalize on break opportunities, ultimately succumbing to Alcaraz's aggressive play and precise shots.
