EPL: Everton Stuns Fulham with Comeback Win

Everton came from behind to defeat Fulham 3-2 at Craven Cottage, boosting their chances of a fitting send-off at Goodison Park next week. David Moyes' side looks to end the season on a high note.

Everton dealt a significant setback to Fulham's European hopes with a comeback win at Craven Cottage, securing their second win in 11 Premier League matches.

Fulham took the lead on 17 minutes when Raul Jimenez headed in Emile Smith Rowe's cross. Marco Silva's side dominated the first half, with Harry Wilson's shot well saved by Jordan Pickford.

Beto and Michael Keane scored within three minutes of each other to turn the game around for Everton, leaving Fulham's European aspirations in doubt as they trail Brentford and Brighton in the pursuit of a European spot.

Everton leveled at halftime when Vitalii Mykolenko's shot from the edge of the box deflected off Andreas Pereira and past Bernd Leno.

Fulham conceded the lead against the run of play when Keane headed in a corner from Dwight McNeil in the 70th minute, the goal confirmed after a lengthy VAR check for offside.

Everton sealed the win with Beto scoring just 22 seconds after the restart, Leno failing to hold onto Beto's shot, which slipped under his palm for the striker's eighth league goal.

Fulham were denied a late penalty when referee Darren England declined to award a spot-kick after reviewing a potential handball by Vitalii Mykolenko in added time.

The loss left Fulham in 11th place, four points behind eighth-placed Brentford, while Everton moved up to 13th.

Fulham manager Marco Silva quashed speculation about his future, stating, “My future is at Fulham Football Club next season,” amid reports of potential interest from Saudi Arabia.

Silva acknowledged the slim chances of securing a European spot, requiring his team to win all remaining matches. However, Fulham's recent form slump has hindered their prospects.

A month ago, Fulham were considered Champions League contenders, but their form has significantly dropped, making their current European hopes challenging.

Fulham's recent form has been concerning, with four losses in their last five matches, making a top-half finish unlikely.

Silva's team faces tough fixtures, traveling to Brentford next week and hosting Manchester City in their final match. To qualify for Europe, they'll likely need to win both games and rely on favorable results elsewhere.

If Silva stays for a fifth season, he'll likely look to bolster his squad with added firepower this summer.

Raul Jimenez scored his 13th goal with a powerful header to open the scoring, but Fulham struggled to add a second, which could have altered the match's dynamics before Everton's comeback.

Despite David Moyes' excellent work since rejoining Everton, the team's season was at risk of ending on a low note before their final home game.

Moyes expertly guided the club to safety with a strong run in January and February. However, by the time they faced Fulham, Everton had managed just one win in their previous 10 matches.

Momentum in football can be fleeting, especially once a primary goal, like avoiding relegation, has been achieved.

Everton fans are gearing up for a memorable send-off against Southampton at Goodison Park next week, with 39,000 fans looking for a fitting farewell.

Moyes recognizes the significance of ending the season on a high note. "I have just said to the players we have the biggest game of the season next week, and we are all ready for it," he said.

In contrast, Everton's performance against Fulham was subpar, particularly in the first half, where they appeared to have little left to prove in the campaign.

Fulham had opportunities to score a crucial second before Everton equalized, and a defeat would have increased the pressure ahead of their home match against Southampton.

However, the comeback, sparked by Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye's introductions from the bench, has restored Everton's momentum, setting the stage for a positive finale at Goodison Park.
