Al Hilal Announces Departure of Coach Jesus

Al Hilal and Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus have parted ways, just days after the team's Asian Champions League Elite semi-final loss.

Al Hilal currently sits in second place in the Pro League, trailing leaders Al Ittihad by six points with five matches remaining. The team is set to participate in the expanded Club World Cup in the United States from June to July.

Al Hilal has parted ways with Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, the Saudi Pro League club announced. The decision comes after Al Hilal's elimination from the Asian Champions League Elite semi-finals, where they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Al Ahli.

The club's announcement confirms Jesus' departure, but details surrounding the split remain unclear. Jesus' exit marks a significant change for Al Hilal as they look to regroup and reassess their strategy.

“The Board of Directors of Al-Hilal Club Company has agreed with the Portuguese head coach of the first team Jorge Jesus to terminate the contractual relationship between them,” Al Hilal said in a statement on X.

“Meanwhile the Board has decided to appoint the coach Mohammed Al-Shalhoub to lead the first team,” the club added.
