Ajax's Edvardsen Out for Season, Brobbey Doubtful
Ajax winger Oliver Edvardsen will miss the rest of the Eredivisie season due to a knee injury, while striker Brian Brobbey is doubtful for Sunday's match against NEC Nijmegen with an ankle injury.
Ajax manager Francesco Farioli confirmed that winger Oliver Edvardsen will miss the rest of the Eredivisie season due to a knee injury sustained in practice. Edvardsen had recently earned his first start for Ajax in a match against Sparta Rotterdam.
Farioli stated that while the injury isn't serious, Edvardsen won't play again this season. The news comes ahead of Ajax's upcoming game against NEC Nijmegen.
Ajax is on the brink of winning their 37th Eredivisie title, needing a win over NEC and a PSV loss to Feyenoord. However, coach Maurice Farioli faces concerns about striker Brian Brobbey's fitness.
Brobbey, who has scored just four goals this season, twisted his ankle and is doubtful for the NEC match. “He twisted his ankle. We hope he can recover in time for Sunday,” Farioli said.
Goalkeeper Update
41-year-old goalkeeper Remko Pasveer has recovered from his groin injury and is fit to play again, according to manager Francesco Farioli. Pasveer had been sidelined since sustaining the injury in March.
Farioli said Pasveer had a positive period of training, adding, “He has been able to use the last two weeks to get more rhythm and test his groin further. I think it was a positive period.”

Francesco Farioli hasn't decided yet whether Remko Pasveer or Matheus will start in goal against NEC Nijmegen. Pasveer faces challenges returning from injury, but has prepared well.
Farioli said, “For all players, there are difficulties when you come back from injury. I haven't decided yet, but he does put himself in a position to peak, but I also take into account what Matheus has meant.” The match kicks off at 16:45 CET.
