Mark Allen achieved a remarkable 147 break in his World Snooker Championship match against Chris Wakelin, but ultimately lost 13-6. The maximum break, Allen's brilliant moment, came during the second-round clash at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

Allen celebrated enthusiastically, punching the air after potting the final black, and received warm congratulations from Wakelin. This achievement earned Allen £45,000, marking the 217th maximum in professional snooker history.

Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry praised Mark Allen's 147 break, calling it “absolutely phenomenal” and saying, “What a performance. Unbelievable. Incredible from Mark Allen. He was 10-2 behind and he's not scored a point for three frames, comes out after the interval and he makes a 147.”

Despite this impressive feat, Allen's momentum didn't last, and Chris Wakelin took control, racing to a 12-4 lead. Allen won two frames but ultimately lost 13-6, ending his World Championship run. Wakelin advances to the quarterfinals.
