Pep Guardiola Provides Update on Erling Haaland's Ankle Injury Recovery Timeline
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is set to miss up to seven weeks of action due to an ankle injury, according to manager Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury. According to manager Pep Guardiola, Haaland is expected to be out of action for up to seven weeks, dealing a significant blow to City's attacking lineup.
Haaland, who has been in impressive form this season with 21 goals in 28 league games, picked up the injury during City's FA Cup quarter-final win at Bournemouth over the weekend. Guardiola acknowledged that the injury is a frustrating setback, particularly given the timing. “Sometimes there are years when these kinds of things happen. It happened all season,” Guardiola told reporters on Tuesday.
Guardiola also reflected on the potential impact of the injury on Manchester City's season, suggesting that the timing could have been worse. “I would say that it could have been different if it was the end of the season (before the Club World Cup),” Guardiola said, implying that the injury might have been less disruptive if it had occurred at a different point in the season.

Pep Guardiola expressed his sympathy for Erling Haaland and the rest of the Manchester City players who have been plagued by injuries this season. “So with all the injuries we have had this season, I'm so sorry for them and for Erling as well. So (I wish him) a good recovery, as speedy as possible, then come back,” Guardiola said, hoping for a swift recovery for his star striker.
Guardiola provided an update on Haaland's expected recovery time, revealing that the doctors have estimated a period of five to seven weeks. “They told me the doctors between five to seven weeks. So hopefully the end of the season and by the Club World Cup he will be ready,” Guardiola said, eyeing a potential return for Haaland by the time the Club World Cup kicks off on June 14 and runs until July 13.
