Kylian Mbappe's dispute with PSG over €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses has escalated, with the player's lawyers filing a complaint for harassment and seeking damages.

Kylian Mbappe's legal team has lodged an appeal to the French sports minister and UEFA, demanding Paris Saint-Germain pay him €55 million in unpaid wages. The team's lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, stated, ”We're going to go on the attack,” signaling a more aggressive approach to resolving the dispute.

In a significant development, Mbappe's legal team has successfully frozen €55 million in PSG's accounts. Thomas Clay, one of Mbappe's legal experts, confirmed, “We have protectively seized the accounts of PSG, to the tune of 55 million euros, this morning.” This move comes after the French League ordered PSG to pay Mbappe the unpaid wages, but the club has yet to comply.

Next Steps

Mbappe's legal team will continue to pursue the matter, potentially taking it to the Ordinary Courts of Justice in France. The team has also announced plans to start an action against PSG for harassment and another legal procedure before an industrial tribunal. A hearing is scheduled for May 26 to further discuss the case.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) expressed frustration over Kylian Mbappe's approach to their ongoing dispute, saying, “After hearing yet another fantastic story from a parallel universe today, PSG continues to fail to understand why Kylian Mbappe is not taking his case to the labour chamber, which is the only court competent to settle the dispute between him and his former club.” They claim Mbappe is avoiding the labor court, which they believe is the proper venue for resolving their differences.

Mbappe's legal team, however, has taken a different approach. They've had a court seize €55 million from PSG's bank accounts, citing unpaid wages and bonuses. Mbappe's lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, stated, “This story has been going on for just over a year now. One year was the deadline we set for ourselves for trying to resolve this dispute as peacefully as possible.” The legal team is also seeking intervention from the French sports minister and UEFA.

Background of the Dispute

The dispute centers around Mbappe's claim that PSG owes him €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses. PSG argues that there was a verbal agreement to relinquish bonuses when Mbappe returned to the team after being sidelined. The tension between Mbappe and PSG began when Mbappe decided not to extend his contract, leading to a complex and contentious situation.

Mbappe's lawyers plan to submit his case to the labour chamber amid a dispute with PSG over €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses. PSG stated, “The club reaffirms its desire to reach an amicable outcome... despite repeated signs of bad faith and the player's total refusal of any mediation.”

“His lawyers claim it's because he's not an employee like the others. PSG believes, on the contrary, that he is an employee like any other, and that he must respect the clear and repeated public and private commitments he has made to his employer.

“All the procedures announced by Kylian Mbappe's lawyers only serve to delay the resolution of the dispute by the labour chamber, before which PSG is ready to present all the facts, evidence and testimony proving the existence of an agreement, or better still by means of the transaction that PSG has been calling for over a year.”

Kylian Mbappe's lawyers have announced plans to submit his case to the labour chamber, amidst an ongoing dispute with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses. PSG expressed frustration, stating, “The club reaffirms its desire to reach an amicable outcome, as it has always been in favour of doing, despite the repeated signs of bad faith and the player's total refusal of any mediation.”

The tension between Mbappe and PSG began when Mbappe decided not to extend his contract, leading to a complex situation. In January last year, Mbappe claimed he had an agreement with PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi to “protect all parties and preserve the club's serenity for the challenges ahead.” However, PSG argues that Mbappe verbally agreed to relinquish certain bonuses when he returned to the team after being sidelined.

During his seven-year stay, Mbappe became PSG's all-time top scorer, but he joined Real Madrid as a free agent last year. The dispute highlights the challenges of high-stakes football contracts and the difficulties of resolving disputes between top players and their former clubs.

PSG also revealed that Mbappe refused an offer from the LFP (French Professional Football League) to mediate the issue, further complicating the situation. With Mbappe's lawyers now taking action, the case is set to be decided by the labour chamber.

Kylian Mbappe's lawyers have filed a complaint for harassment, alleging that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) put undue pressure on the player to extend his contract in 2023, a year before it was set to expire. This move is part of the ongoing dispute between Mbappe and PSG over €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses.

PSG, however, disputes Mbappe's claims, arguing that his contract was “legally amended” and that he had reneged on commitments when he left the club to join Real Madrid. The Ligue 1 champions maintain that Mbappe's decision to leave was a breach of his contractual obligations, and they are seeking to resolve the matter through the courts.
