Manchester United Announces Post-Season Tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong

Manchester United to play friendly matches in Malaysia and Hong Kong after the end of the Premier League season, generating revenue and boosting the squad.

Manchester United has announced plans to play friendly matches in Malaysia and Hong Kong shortly after the end of the Premier League season. The club will face an ASEAN All-Star XI team in Kuala Lumpur on May 28 and a Hong Kong representative team on May 30.

This tour marks the club's return to Asia since their 2022 visit, when they played Liverpool in Thailand. The friendly matches will take place just a few days after Manchester United concludes their Premier League campaign with a home game against Aston Villa on May 25. Following the tour, the team will participate in the Premier League Summer Series in the United States ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Manchester United's chief executive, Omar Berrada, highlighted the financial benefits of the club's upcoming tour, saying, “Importantly, tour fixtures drive significant additional revenue which help make the club stronger, allowing us to keep investing in success on the pitch.” This revenue will support the club's efforts to improve their performance on the field.

The tour will see Manchester United face a Hong Kong team managed by former United youth team player Ashley Westwood. The Hong Kong team is currently ranked 153rd in the world. United last visited Hong Kong in 2013 and are currently 13th in the Premier League. Other top clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool, have also announced plans to visit Hong Kong in July.
