Füchse Berlin Prepares for Different Aalborg in Return Leg

Füchse Berlin expects tougher match against Aalborg Handball with Thomas Arnoldsen's return in Champions League quarter-final.

Füchse Berlin are wary of Thomas Arnoldsen's potential impact for Aalborg Handball in their Champions League quarter-final return leg. Arnoldsen, a Danish international, made a notable comeback for Aalborg over the weekend.

Despite Füchse Berlin's convincing 37-29 win in the first leg, Aalborg still has a chance to turn the tie around. The Danish team will need a strong performance to overcome the significant deficit ahead of the return leg in Northern Jutland.

Füchse Berlin expects a tougher match against Aalborg Handball in the Champions League quarter-final return leg. “I expect a different match than the first match, not least because Thomas Arnoldsen will probably play,” says Füchse coach Jaron Siewert.

Siewert anticipates Arnoldsen's return will boost Aalborg's attack. “It makes their attacking intentions more lively and dangerous.” Arnoldsen, a world champion and Olympic gold medalist, scored two goals in Aalborg's recent match against Skanderborg AGF after missing seven games.

Thomas Arnoldsen's return to Aalborg's lineup has boosted the team's chances in the Champions League quarter-final against Füchse Berlin. After a month-and-a-half absence, Arnoldsen played against Skanderborg AGF and scored two goals.

Füchse Berlin's sports director Stefan Kretzschmar acknowledges the challenge ahead. “It is a big dream to reach the Final 4 in Cologne, but Aalborg is very strong at home. A hostile reception awaits us, and the team will be very motivated.”

Kretzschmar specifically highlights Arnoldsen's impact, saying, “They are a world-class team, especially with the return of Thomas Arnoldsen.” The match is set for Wednesday evening at 18:45 CET.
