Darts Blowing Everywhere: Gerwyn Price Slams Ahoy Conditions
Gerwyn Price expresses frustration with windy conditions at Rotterdam Ahoy, calling for the PDC to consider alternative venues.
Chris Dobey expressed his excitement after securing his first nightly Premier League win of 2025. “I'm over the moon,” Dobey said, ending a drought that stretched back to 2023. “It's always good to be winning. There was never any doubt that I would win one. I felt comfortable. I said earlier today that I feel great. I feel like I can win it, and I've just proved myself right.”
Huge congratulations to Chris Dobey on his win in Rotterdam last night – absolutely cinching it! 💜🏆

Dobey's win in Rotterdam Ahoy saw him defeat Luke Humphries 6-3 in the first match and then eliminate Nathan Aspinall in the semi-finals. In the final, he beat Stephen Bunting 6-2, achieving a notable victory. “There's no reason why not. I feel my game is there. If I can keep producing darts like I did tonight, I've always got a chance, but I'm just happy to put myself back in the mix and run for it.” This win puts Dobey back in contention for the playoffs in London.
Regarding the breezy conditions in Rotterdam Ahoy, Dobey said, “Let the darts do the talking,” waving off complaints from his opponents. He seemed focused on his performance rather than the external conditions, emphasizing his confidence in his abilities. With five points from the night, Dobey is now firmly in the mix for a playoff spot.
Challenging Conditions at Ahoy
The windy conditions at Rotterdam Ahoy proved challenging for some players, affecting their throwing accuracy. Gerwyn Price was among those frustrated by the conditions, taking to Instagram to express his discontent after his first-round exit. “I'm so sorry, but this week was pointless, and we move to next week. Darts were blowing everywhere, and after one leg, which was lucky, I knew it was pointless.” Price called for the PDC to consider alternative venues, stating, “Hopefully, the PDC will now stop coming here and look for alternative venues. Not good for the players, not good for the fans, and not good for people that like a bet.”
Chris Dobey wasn't overly concerned about the challenging conditions in Rotterdam Ahoy. “It was hard, but I wouldn't say it was the toughest conditions,” he said, recalling even tougher conditions in previous years. “There are conditions everywhere you go that are different, and it's just how you deal with them.”
Dobey attributed the relatively better conditions this year to adjustments made by the organizers. “I think they tried to help it. They've done things differently this year. It wasn't as bad as the previous years.” He chose to stick with his usual 23-gram darts, unaffected by the breeze.
Dobey dismissed the idea of changing darts to compensate for the wind, calling it overthinking. “I think you can think too far into it,” he said. “I'll just use my normal darts, my normal set-up, and just let the darts do the talking.” This approach seemed to work in his favor, as he secured a convincing win.
