Cardiff Relegated to League One as Plymouth's Fate Sealed

Cardiff City was relegated to League One after a 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion. Meanwhile, Plymouth Argyle's fate is all but sealed. Get the latest updates.

Cardiff City was relegated to the third tier after a 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion, marking a significant fall from their Premier League days just six years ago. Meanwhile, Plymouth Argyle's 2-1 win over Preston North End wasn't enough to save them from potentially joining Cardiff in League One.

Despite Aaron Ramsey's efforts as interim manager, Cardiff couldn't escape relegation. A dramatic Luton Town win over Coventry earlier in the day had already put the Bluebirds in a precarious position, needing to win both of their remaining games to have any chance of survival. The draw with West Brom sealed their fate.

Luton Town climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time since January after Shandon Baptiste scored a 90th-minute winner against Coventry City. The match was marked by drama, with Coventry's Jay Dasilva sent off in the 13th minute and Luton's Liam Walsh dismissed midway through the second half.

Plymouth Argyle's 2-1 win over Preston North End sealed their relegation fate, despite a late fightback from Preston. Mustapha Bundu and Callum Wright scored for Plymouth, while Emil Riis netted a consolation goal for Preston in the final minutes. Plymouth's inferior goal difference leaves them three points adrift, making their relegation to League One all but certain.

Preston's Championship fate remains uncertain after a 1-0 loss to Derby County, courtesy of Nat Phillips' late goal. This result leaves Preston just one point above the relegation zone. Derby's win moves them up to 19th, but they still need to secure a positive result against Stoke in the final match to guarantee survival.

Millwall moved closer to a playoff spot with a 1-0 win over Swansea, thanks to George Saville's goal. This victory marks Millwall's fifth consecutive home win, and they now trail Coventry only on goal difference. Millwall's final match against promoted Burnley will be crucial in determining their playoff chances.

Blackburn's 2-1 win over Watford keeps them in the playoff hunt, just one point behind Millwall and Coventry. The outcome of the final matches will determine the final playoff spots.
