Real Madrid Boss Ancelotti Hopeful of Positive UEFA Decision
Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful of a positive verdict from UEFA's investigation into Real Madrid players' alleged misconduct and is focused on retaining the LaLiga title.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed confidence on Friday that the ongoing UEFA investigation into alleged player misconduct will ultimately favor his team. The investigation, launched by European football's governing body, centers on the behavior of several Real Madrid players following their recent Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid. Ancelotti's optimism comes as his team faces a critical period in the season, with key matches on the horizon.
The UEFA probe is focused on allegations of improper conduct involving four Real Madrid players: Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, Dani Ceballos, and VinÃcius Jr. The investigation was prompted by a complaint filed by Atletico Madrid, who took issue with the Real players' behavior during and after the match. According to Spanish media reports, the players are accused of taunting Atletico fans with gestures and dances, which allegedly led to objects being thrown at them.
A decision in the UEFA investigation could have significant implications for Real Madrid's upcoming Champions League quarter-final matches against Arsenal, scheduled for April 8th and 16th. Spanish media outlets have suggested that bans could be handed down to the players involved, which would deal a significant blow to Ancelotti's team. However, the Real Madrid manager remains confident that his team will be cleared of any wrongdoing. ”We believe everything was correct and we hope UEFA makes a decision, but we trust that everything will end well,” Ancelotti told reporters.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has reiterated his confidence in the innocence of his players, who are currently under investigation by UEFA for alleged misconduct. Ancelotti emphasized that the players had done nothing wrong, and he is optimistic about the outcome of the investigation. “We are confident in UEFA's verdict as the players had just celebrated, that's it, we wait for verdict, but our players didn't do anything wrong,” Ancelotti added.
Despite trailing leaders Barcelona by three points in the LaLiga standings, Ancelotti remains committed to defending their title. With both teams still competing in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, the Italian manager acknowledged that Barcelona holds an advantage but vowed to fight until the end. “Barcelona has an advantage, but we are going to fight until the end. I hope we have 17 matches (in all competitions) left until the end,” Ancelotti said.

Ahead of Saturday's league match against Leganes, Ancelotti confirmed that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will be unavailable due to a muscle strain. However, the manager is hopeful that other injured players will return in time for the Champions League quarter-final clash against Arsenal. “Courtois has a small issue, and we are trying to recover Ceballos and (Ferland) Mendy for the first leg against Arsenal,”Ancelotti said.
