Lille moved into a Champions League qualification spot after Hakon Arnar Haraldsson's brace sealed a 2-1 win over Monaco in Ligue 1.

Hakon Arnar Haraldsson's first-ever Ligue 1 brace proved to be the decisive factor in Lille's narrow 2-1 victory over Monaco at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. The win propelled Lille into third place in the league standings, at least temporarily. Vanderson also saw a shot blocked on the hour mark, but Monaco continued to struggle in constructing consistent passing sequences to net a late equalizer. As the match drew to a close, Monaco's chances of securing a point seemed to be slipping away.

In the 80th minute, Monaco had a golden opportunity to equalize. A failed clearance from a Monaco corner led to Wilfried Singo crossing deep into the area towards George Ilenikhena. However, Ilenikhena failed to meet the ball head-on, instead flicking it into safe territory, and the chance to rescue a point was lost. This missed opportunity proved costly, as Lille held on to secure the 2-1 victory.

Substitute Breel Embolo had a golden opportunity to score, but was thwarted by a well-timed block, while Takumi Minamino also saw his rebound effort from inside the box denied. In the end, Lille held on for a nervy 2-1 victory, securing their first back-to-back league wins since October and provisionally moving into a Champions League qualification spot.

The win was a significant boost for Lille, who will be eager to build on this momentum and consolidate their position in the top three. In contrast, Monaco's struggles on the road continued, with this defeat marking their sixth consecutive away match without a win (D2, L4).
