FA Hands Out Fines to Aston Villa and Newcastle for Unruly Behavior

Aston Villa and Newcastle United have been fined by the Football Association (FA) for failing to control their players and staff during a heated Premier League match on Boxing Day.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United have been fined by the Football Association (FA) for failing to control their players and staff during an altercation in their Premier League match on Boxing Day. Villa have been fined £30,000, while Newcastle have been fined £20,000.

The incident occurred during a heated match at Newcastle, which ended in a 3-0 victory for the hosts. Villa's task was made more difficult when forward Jhon Duran was sent off in the 32nd minute for stamping on Fabian Schar. The Colombian's frustration boiled over as he kicked a water bottle before heading down the tunnel.

Tensions flared at halftime, leading to Newcastle assistant manager Jason Tindall and Aston Villa analyst Victor Manas being sent off. According to the FA, “It was alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the tunnel area at half time.”

An independent regulatory commission has fined both clubs and issued a warning. Additionally, Victor Manas has been handed a two-match ground ban and a £4,000 fine after admitting to acting in an improper manner. Jason Tindall, however, has been cleared of any wrongdoing, with the regulatory commission finding the charge against him to be “not proven.”

Jhon Duran had already been fined £15,000 earlier in January after admitting to acting in an improper manner during the same game. The FA's disciplinary action brings an end to the matter, with both clubs accepting their fines and warnings.
