Transfer: Kyle Walker Joins AC Milan on Loan from Manchester City

Kyle Walker has completed a loan move to AC Milan from Manchester City, with the England right-back set to stay in Italy until the end of the season.

Kyle Walker, Manchester City's captain, has joined AC Milan on loan until the end of the season, as announced by both clubs on Friday.

AC Milan has confirmed that the loan deal includes an option to buy the 34-year-old England right-back, with reports suggesting the transfer fee would be around $5.24 million.

Walker made 319 appearances for Manchester City before his departure, with his last game being a 4-1 Premier League win over West Ham United on January 4th.

Walker was omitted from Manchester City's squad for their 8-0 FA Cup third-round victory over Salford City, with manager Pep Guardiola revealing that the defender had requested to explore opportunities to play abroad.

Walker signed a three-year contract extension with Manchester City in 2023 and has 18 months remaining on his deal, having initially joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017.

Walker's departure from Manchester City comes amid a slump in form for the English champions, who are struggling to maintain their Premier League title defense and are at risk of being eliminated from the Champions League following a 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain.

Kyle Walker boasts an impressive 93 caps for England and was the sole English player included in the Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament, having played every minute of the competition in Germany, where England finished as runners-up to Spain.

Walker held a leadership role within England's squad during the Euros, underscoring his experience and influence on the national team.

Walker's departure from Manchester City is part of a flurry of transfer activity for the club, which has seen them strengthen their squad with several new signings, including Egypt forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, Brazilian defender Vitor Reis, and Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov.
