AS Roma has announced the signing of Dutch defender Devyne Rensch from Ajax in a €5 million deal, with the player agreeing to a four-year contract until 2029.

Roma have officially announced the signing of Dutch defender Devyne Rensch from Ajax. The 22-year-old full-back has signed a contract with the Italian club until 2029, following lengthy negotiations between Roma and Ajax. “AS Roma is pleased to announce the outright purchase of Devyne Rensch from Ajax,” the club said in a statement. “Welcome to Roma, Devyne!”

The transfer fee for Rensch is reported to be around €5 million, with the player set to earn approximately €1.2 million per season for the duration of his four-year contract. Rensch will wear the number 2 shirt for Roma and becomes the eighth Dutch player in history to represent the Italian club. Ajax technical director Alex Kroes expressed his admiration for Rensch, saying “It was not an easy decision to let Devyne go at this time.”

Kroes acknowledged Rensch's importance to Ajax, highlighting his status as a homegrown player and an undisputed starter. However, he also recognized Rensch's desire for a new challenge and wished him well in his future endeavors. “As a homegrown player and an undisputed starter, we will certainly miss him here,” Kroes said. “He was eager to take on this new challenge, and now he has the opportunity to showcase his qualities in one of Europe's finest leagues. We have wished Devyne all the best and hope he will be just as successful in Italy as he has been here at Ajax.”
