However, the Red Wings quickly responded, with Ryan Donato scoring to even the score by the midpoint of the period.

The Red Wings regained the lead 41 seconds into the second period, courtesy of a goal from Lucas Raymond. This proved to be the only goal of the period, with Detroit dominating the Blackhawks 24-2 in shots.
