NHL Action Recap: Bruins, Wild, Islanders, and Kraken Win on Monday


The Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, New York Islanders, and Seattle Kraken all secured wins in Monday's NHL action, with several teams heating up in the league standings.



The National Hockey League (NHL) featured a packed nine-game slate on Monday, with several notable performances and storylines. One of the highlights of the night was Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews, who scored in his fourth consecutive game. Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Knights' losing streak continued, tying for the longest current skid in the NHL.

Blues Edge Golden Knights in Shootout

The St. Louis Blues handed the Las Vegas Golden Knights their fourth consecutive loss, emerging victorious in a shootout. The game was tied 4-4 after Jack Eichel and Pavel Dorofeyev scored for the Knights in the third period, sending the game into overtime. However, the Blues ultimately sealed the win with shootout goals from Jake Neighbours and Brayden Schenn.



Hurricanes Edge Blackhawks in Overtime

Sebastian Aho scored his 14th goal of the season in overtime, securing the Carolina Hurricanes' fourth overtime win of the season in a 4-3 thriller against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks initially took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Philipp Kurashev and Tyler Bertuzzi. However, the Hurricanes responded in the second period, scoring two goals courtesy of Seth Jarvis and Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The teams then traded goals, ultimately sending the game into overtime, where Aho's decisive goal sealed the win for Carolina. This loss continues the Blackhawks' struggle to maintain a win streak, with their last streak of two or more wins occurring between December 15th and December 19th.


League Roundup: Bruins, Wild, Islanders, and Kraken Secure Wins


The Boston Bruins have now won three of their last four games after defeating the San Jose Sharks 6-3. In other action, the Minnesota Wild scored twice in the third period to beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-1. The New York Islanders extended their strong run, winning five of their last seven games, with a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Meanwhile, the Seattle Kraken had a balanced attack, with six different players scoring in their 6-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
