Mo Salah Opens Up on Idol, Ballon d'Or, and Liverpool Future
Mo Salah opens up on his idol Ronaldo Nazario, voting for Vinicius Jr as the best player, and his desire to win the Premier League title with Liverpool.
In an exclusive interview with TNT Sports, Liverpool player Mo Salah shared his thoughts on various topics, including his idol, the Ballon d'Or, and his future at Liverpool. When asked about his idol, Salah revealed, “My idol? Ronaldo Nazario.”
Mohamed Salah also explained why he voted for Vinicius Jr as the best player in the world, saying, “Vinicius Jr is a very good player, that's why! He's improving every year, and hopefully, he can continue... I voted for him because he deserves.” Salah's praise for the young Brazilian winger highlights his admiration for talented players.
The Egyptian forward also spoke highly of his former coach, Arne Slot, stating, “Before I worked with Arne Slot, I didn't expect he was this good... then we started working, and I'm not surprised at all!” Salah attributed Slot's success to his attention to detail, tactical acumen, and humility, saying, “He's great with details, great with small things, doesn't have ego when he makes a mistake... he's great on tactics.”
When asked about the Ballon d'Or, Salah acknowledged the subjective nature of the award, saying, “Best in the world? It's tricky! People have different preferences...” However, he confidently asserted his own ambitions, stating, “I always see myself as the best, and I want to give my best for the team.”
Salah also expressed his desire to win the Premier League title, revealing, “I want to win the Premier League title MORE than the Champions League this year.” He emphasized the collective desire within the team, saying, “I really want it, as a team we want it.”
Regarding his future at Liverpool, Salah provided an update on his contract negotiations, stating, “So far? Yes... into the last 6 months, there is no progress there.” He expressed a sense of uncertainty, saying, “We're far away from any progress in contract talks, so we just need to wait and see.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Salah spoke fondly of his time at Liverpool, saying, “Incredible feeling. I would say I enjoy every moment in this club.” He reflected on the importance of appreciating his experiences, stating, “Even when we struggle, I just try to think, 'OK, just enjoy the moment,' because this experience maybe will never come again.”
