Martin Perez Joins White Sox on One-Year, $5 Million Deal


The Chicago White Sox have signed former All-Star pitcher Martin Perez to a one-year, $5 million deal, bolstering their pitching rotation.


The Chicago White Sox have strengthened their pitching rotation by signing former All-Star pitcher Martin Perez to a one-year, $5 million deal. According to multiple reports, the contract includes a mutual option for 2026.


Perez, 33, brings a wealth of experience to the White Sox, entering his 14th season in the majors. He has played for five teams previously and will now suit up for his sixth team, with the White Sox being his fourth team in the past three seasons.


In the 2023 season, Perez split time between the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres, throwing a 4.53 ERA in 26 starts. His statistics included 151 hits allowed in 135 innings pitched, 49 walks, and 107 strikeouts.


Perez's career record stands at 90-87 in 269 starts, accompanied by a 4.44 ERA. Notably, he had an impressive All-Star season in 2022 with the Texas Rangers, achieving a 2.89 ERA in 32 starts and a career-high 169 strikeouts.


To make room for Perez on their roster, the White Sox designated pitcher Ron Marinaccio for assignment.
