Manchester United's Antony Sues Former Club Ajax Over Withheld Wages

Manchester United winger Antony is suing his former club Ajax for withholding 'hundreds of thousands of euros' in wages before his move to the Premier League.

Manchester United winger Antony, 24, has initiated a lawsuit against his former club Ajax, alleging that the Amsterdam-based team withheld “hundreds of thousands of euros” from his wages prior to his transfer to Manchester United in August 2022.

The dispute arose when Antony deliberately missed several practice sessions and the Eredivisie fixture against Sparta Rotterdam as a protest against Ajax's demands during negotiations with Manchester United. As a result, Antony was fined three times, with the total amounting to “several hundreds of thousands of euros,” according to reports by Voetbal International and Algemeen Dagblad.

More than two years after his €95 million move to Manchester United, Antony and his lawyer have commenced arbitration proceedings against Ajax, seeking the return of the withheld wages. A verdict in the case is expected within a month's time.
