Lewis Hamilton Makes Ferrari Debut at Fiorano Test Track
Lewis Hamilton has made his first appearance in Ferrari colors, driving a test car at the Fiorano circuit as he prepares for the 2025 F1 season.
Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton made his Ferrari debut on Wednesday, taking to the track at the team's test circuit in Italy. The 40-year-old British driver, who shocked the paddock by announcing his departure from Mercedes after 12 successful years, drove a Ferrari F1 car for the first time.
Hamilton's first outing in Ferrari colors took place on a foggy morning at the Fiorano test track, near Ferrari's Maranello base in northern Italy. Wearing the iconic red overalls and a distinctive yellow helmet, Hamilton drove a test car as groups of passionate Ferrari fans watched from a bridge overlooking the track.
Ferrari fans are hopeful that Hamilton's arrival will mark a turning point in the team's fortunes, ending an 18-year wait for a drivers' F1 title. The team has struggled to compete with dominant forces Mercedes and Red Bull in recent years. Hamilton himself had a challenging 2024 season, winning just two Grands Prix and finishing seventh in the world championship, 214 points behind title-winner Max Verstappen.
As Hamilton settles into his new role, he is set to unveil his 2025 Ferrari car alongside teammate Charles Leclerc at the team's season launch on February 19th at Maranello. The team will then head to Bahrain for testing the following week, where Hamilton will have the opportunity to further familiarize himself with his new car.
