Györ Signs Danish International Helena Elver on Two-Year Contract

Danish playmaker Helena Elver has signed a two-year contract with Champions League winners Györ, leaving her current club Odense at the end of the season.

Danish international playmaker Helena Elver has signed a two-year contract with Champions League winners Györ, the Hungarian club announced on their website. Elver will join Györ at the end of the season, leaving her current club Odense. Last week, Odense Handball revealed that Elver had taken advantage of a clause in her contract to leave the club this summer, seeking a change abroad.

Elver expressed her excitement about joining Györ, stating “I know the club well, as we have faced them year after year in the Champions League. I know Györ's goals and know what kind of professional staff and players work there.” She also shared that signing with Györ has fulfilled her childhood dream, saying “Along with this contract, my childhood dream has come true.”

Elver has been with Odense since 2020 and feels that the time has come to pursue new challenges outside of Denmark. “I have developed as a person and as a player here in Odense, and therefore I am also ready for a new adventure after the summer,” Elver told Odense Handball's website last week. She will join two fellow Danish national team players, Kristina Jørgensen and Sandra Toft, at Györ.

Elver has had a successful career with the Danish national team, playing 45 matches since 2019. She was a key player in Denmark's silver medal win at the European championships in December and also helped the team secure bronze medals at the World Championships in 2023.
