Norway's Sander Sagosen Ruled Out of World Cup with Calf Injury

Norway's star player Sander Sagosen has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a calf injury sustained in the match against Spain.

Norway's national team coach, Jonas Wille, has confirmed that star player Sander Sagosen will miss the remainder of the World Cup due to a calf injury sustained in Wednesday's match against Spain. Wille expressed his disappointment, saying “Sander is depressed about the injury. He felt that he was on his way back to his best.” The coach acknowledged the significant impact of Sagosen's absence, stating “He is finished for the championship. It's a shame for Sander and a shame for us. He is one of our leaders. The weight he carries against opponents is important.”

Sagosen underwent an ultrasound examination after the match, which revealed the extent of the injury. Doctor Thomas Torgalsen explained the next steps in Sagosen's recovery, saying “Then we will see if there is tissue damage. And if there is tissue damage, it must be treated over weeks. Most likely it is a stretch that takes at least three weeks to heal.” As a result, Sagosen will be on crutches for the next few days, effectively ruling him out of the World Cup.

Despite the injury, Norway has announced that Sagosen will remain part of the World Cup squad, with no replacement being called in. This decision allows Sagosen to continue supporting his teammates, even if he is unable to participate on the court.
