Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos has completed a move to Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal. The 31-year-old Brazilian defender joins Fenerbahce, who are currently coached by Jose Mourinho, in a reported €10 million transfer.

Diego Carlos had been a regular presence in the Aston Villa lineup since joining from Sevilla in 2022, making 40 Premier League appearances. However, his last outing for the club was on December 30, and he has now opted for a new challenge in Turkey.

Fenerbahce's acquisition of Diego Carlos is a timely boost ahead of their crucial Europa League clash against Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday. The Turkish side is currently 22nd in the 36-team table, occupying a play-off spot and holding a slender one-point advantage over the elimination places.

In addition to their European ambitions, Fenerbahce is also mounting a strong challenge in the Turkish Super Lig. They currently sit second in the table, six points adrift of leaders Galatasaray. Fenerbahce will look to maintain their momentum when they host Goztepe on Sunday.
