FA Overturns Myles Lewis-Skelly's Red Card, Three-Match Ban Rescinded

Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly has had his red card from Saturday's win at Wolves overturned on appeal, rescinding his three-match ban and making him available for upcoming fixtures.

Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly has had his three-match ban overturned after the club successfully appealed his red card in Saturday's win at Wolves. The 18-year-old was sent off by referee Michael Oliver in the first half of the Gunners' 1-0 win at Molineux for a challenge on Wolves defender Matt Doherty. Video assistant referee Darren England supported Oliver's decision to dismiss Lewis-Skelly for serious foul play.

However, an independent regulatory commission has since upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal, removing Lewis-Skelly's three-match suspension. The Football Association (FA) confirmed the decision in a statement on Tuesday, which read: “An independent regulatory commission has upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Myles Lewis-Skelly and removed his three-match suspension.” The statement continued: “The Arsenal player was sent off for serious foul play during their Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, January 25, 2025.”

As a result of the successful appeal, Lewis-Skelly will now be available for Arsenal's upcoming Premier League games against Manchester City and Leicester, as well as the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at Newcastle. The decision is a welcome boost for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who can now call upon the talented young player for these crucial fixtures.
