Enrique Praises PSG's Resilience in Monaco Victory
Luis Enrique hailed PSG's resilience and determination after they edged past Monaco 1-0 in the French Super Cup, courtesy of Dembele's injury-time winner.
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique expressed his satisfaction with his team's fighting spirit, which ultimately led to their 1-0 victory over AS Monaco in the French Super Cup. Enrique praised his team for starting the year on a positive note, emphasizing that the win was well-deserved.
The decisive moment came in the dying seconds of the match, as Ousmane Dembele scored the winning goal two minutes into injury time. This dramatic finish was the culmination of a dominant performance by PSG, who created 27 chances throughout the match, with nine of those efforts on target. Despite their struggles to break the deadlock, Dembele's late strike sealed the victory for the French champions.
Luis Enrique acknowledged the challenges posed by AS Monaco in the French Super Cup, praising his team's resilience and determination. “Today it was a very difficult game, against an opponent with very high-quality players and a lot of attacking ones,” Enrique told PSG TV. He highlighted the team's ability to adapt and overcome adversity, saying, “We had... moments of domination and moments of defensive suffering, but I think that in the end, the goal did justice to a team that never stops fighting, that continues to attack, that does not stop running, that does not stop defending.”
Enrique emphasized the importance of his team's winning mentality, saying, “I think it is something very positive and that we must continue to value.” PSG's victory marked a record-extending 13th domestic Super Cup title, solidifying their position as French champions.

Looking ahead, Enrique emphasized the need for continued growth and improvement, saying, “With the game idea that we have and the profile of our players, we must continue to grow as a team, to improve in any situation.” PSG's unbeaten domestic record remains intact, with their last loss in a domestic game dating back to May last year.
