Detroit Lions' David Montgomery to Return from Injury for Playoffs
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is expected to return from injury in time for the team's divisional-round matchup in the playoffs.
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery, 27, is anticipated to make a timely return from injury, with his sights set on being ready for the team's divisional-round matchup in two weeks. This positive development comes on the heels of the Lions' crucial win against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night.
The Lions' victory over the Vikings proved instrumental in securing a first-round bye in this year's playoffs. According to head coach Dan Campbell, Montgomery is expected to rejoin the team in time for their divisional-round matchup, providing a significant boost to the Lions' offense.

David Montgomery's initial MCL injury in Week 15 led to concerns that his season was over. However, after seeking multiple medical opinions, Montgomery is now poised to make a remarkable return for the postseason.
Montgomery has been a standout performer for the Detroit Lions this season, accumulating impressive statistics. He has rushed for 775 yards and 12 touchdowns on 185 attempts, leaving him just shy of setting new career highs. Specifically, he needed only two more rushing touchdowns and 241 additional rushing yards to achieve this milestone. Furthermore, Montgomery required just 97 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns to set career highs in receiving as well.
The former 73rd overall pick in the 2019 draft secured a two-year, $18.25 million contract extension with the Lions this year. This deal will expire in 2028, at which point Montgomery will become an unrestricted free agent.
