Coach Luis de la Fuente Signs Contract Extension Until 2028

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has signed a contract extension, committing to the national team until EURO 2028, following their 2024 European Championship title win.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on Monday that Luis de la Fuente, the head coach of the EURO 2024-winning Spanish national team, has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the helm until EURO 2028.

De la Fuente, 63, will continue to lead Spain beyond the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, and into the European Championship in Britain and Ireland. His impressive tenure has seen Spain win all seven matches in the 2024 European Championship, culminating in a 2-1 victory over England in the final.

De la Fuente's coaching career with Spain began in 2013, when he started guiding the U19 team. He later led the U23s to a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. In 2022, he took over as the senior team manager and promptly led them to a Nations League title in 2023.
