Andreas Christensen's Injury Woes Continue with Three-Week Layoff

Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has suffered a fresh injury setback, ruling him out for approximately three weeks with a right soleus injury.

Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has suffered a fresh injury setback, just as he was returning from a five-month spell on the sidelines. The Catalan club confirmed the news on their website, stating that Christensen suffered a right soleus injury during Monday's training session. As a result, he is expected to be out for approximately three weeks.

The injury is the latest in a long line of setbacks for Christensen, who has been plagued by injuries throughout his career. This season, he has made just one appearance, playing against Valencia on the opening day. However, he was subsequently sidelined for five months after undergoing surgery to address his Achilles tendinopathy issue, which had been troubling him since last season.

Christensen had only recently made his comeback to the squad earlier this month, but his return to the pitch will now be put on hold for a further three weeks. The fresh injury setback is a significant blow, not only for Christensen but also for Barcelona, who had been counting on his return to bolster their defensive options. Furthermore, the injury has also put paid to any potential transfer moves, with interest reportedly coming from the Premier League and Serie A during the transfer window.
