Postecoglou Sees Progress at Tottenham Despite Inconsistent Results

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou insists his team is making progress despite inconsistent Premier League results, citing improvement in 'all aspects of our game' and committing to his attacking approach.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou remains optimistic about his team's trajectory, asserting that they are making strides despite their inconsistent Premier League performance. “We are progressing in all aspects of our game,” Postecoglou, 59, stated on Wednesday.

As Spurs prepare to face Bournemouth on Thursday, they sit seventh in the table with a record of six wins, five defeats, and two draws from their opening 13 games. Notably, they are just three points shy of the top four, indicating that their progress, though uneven, has kept them within striking distance of their goals.

Manchester United's recent performance has been marked by inconsistency, as evidenced by their resounding 4-0 victory over reigning champions Manchester City, which followed a surprising 2-1 home defeat to struggling Ipswich.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has remained committed to his attacking philosophy, passionately defending his approach after conceding a late equalizer in a 2-2 draw against Roma. “I'm not interested in pragmatism,” he emphasized, reaffirming his dedication to his tactical vision.

On the eve of the Bournemouth match, Postecoglou expressed optimism about his team's trajectory. “We're heading in the right direction,” he stated, indicating confidence in his side's progress despite the ups and downs.

“We're progressing in all our aspects of our game,” he said. “We've scored a lot of goals but even defensively, we're much more consistent than we were last year.

“The fact that we have got quite a few significant absences is just something we have to work through.

“We had a very similar scenario last year and it's fair to say we sort of ground our way through it and we're kind of doing that at the moment.”

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou tempered his optimistic outlook with a dose of realism, acknowledging areas where his team needs to improve. “We've obviously had a couple of games where we've been not great in executing our football,” he admitted.

Postecoglou specifically highlighted defeats to Crystal Palace and Ipswich as moments where his team fell short. “Those two games... we fell well below what we wanted to do,” he said, recognizing the need to address these inconsistencies. However, he emphasized that overall progress is being made, stating, “Aside from that, it's progress in all areas.”
