The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a site in Lagos where counterfeit alcohol is produced and destroyed goods worth N30 million.



NAFDAC officials have made a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat counterfeiting, uncovering an illegal site producing fake alcoholic beverages worth around N30 million in Lagos. The site, located at a shop on Offin Road in the Balogun area of Lagos Island, was discovered through the agency's diligent efforts to protect public health and safety.


This achievement is a testament to NAFDAC's commitment to eradicating counterfeit products from the market. As part of its regulatory functions, NAFDAC has been working tirelessly to ensure that only genuine and safe products are available for consumption.


The statement read, “Assorted bottles of the offending products were destroyed on-site, while packaging materials, empty bottles, and repackaged drinks were confiscated.


“The estimated value of the destroyed and seized items exceeds N30 million.


“NAFDAC has initiated further investigations and advises consumers to buy alcoholic beverages only from reputable vendors and to report any suspicious products and activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.”
