Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has expressed his unwavering determination to “make history” with the struggling club, despite their recent dismal form in the Premier League. At just 22 years old, Diallo is eager to leave a lasting impact at Old Trafford.
Since the arrival of new manager Ruben Amorim, who replaced the sacked Erik ten Hag, Manchester United's fortunes have not improved significantly. The team has lost five of Amorim's 10 games in charge across all competitions, a run that has seen them slide down the Premier League table.
The pressure on Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has intensified following a string of dismal defeats in their last three matches, against Wolves, Bournemouth, and Tottenham. As the team prepares to host Newcastle at Old Trafford on Monday, Amorim is under mounting scrutiny to turn things around.
Manchester United's current predicament is a far cry from their usual lofty standards, with the team languishing in 14th place in the Premier League. A mere eight points separate them from the relegation zone, a precarious position that underscores the urgency for Amorim to arrest the slide and steer the team back to safety.
Amad Diallo has been a rare shining light in an otherwise dismal season for Manchester United. His impressive performances have been capped off by a thrilling late winner in the derby against Manchester City. This season, the Ivory Coast forward has contributed significantly to United's attack, scoring two goals and providing six assists in the league.
Diallo's ambition extends beyond individual success, as he is determined to help Manchester United reclaim their spot at the top of English football. Alongside his fellow young teammates, Diallo is driven to make a lasting impact at Old Trafford. “We are part of the project, we have so many young players for this club, especially Garna (Alejandro Garnacho), Kobbie (Mainoo), Joshua (Zirkzee), Rasmus (Hojlund), me, we are young players who want to make history for this club,” Diallo shared in an interview with MUTV.
“We want to do our best every game. Sometimes it cannot work, but you can see in the pitch we are very focused to do our best for this club, because we want to bring back this club to the level it was before.
“So, for the young lads, we just have to keep going, work hard and the most important thing is to listen to the old men, the old players, learn every day.
“We have now a new manager, he likes to work with young players, and he brings a new system, so we just have to follow it and try to do our best every game.”
Under Ruben Amorim's management, Amad Diallo has demonstrated his adaptability by playing in various positions, including right wing-back and more attacking roles. This flexibility has allowed Diallo to showcase his skills in different areas of the pitch. “In football this can happen,” he explained. “Don't be focused in only one position. Sometimes you can play as a defender, sometimes as a striker.”
Diallo's willingness to play anywhere for the team is evident in his words. He is eager to contribute to Manchester United's success, regardless of the position he is assigned. “Wherever the manager puts me I'm ready to fight for the team. I just want to play, right wing, number 10, anywhere. I say to the manager if you need me as a 'keeper I'm ready to do my best, I will fight for the team and for my team-mates. I want to make history for this club,” Diallo emphasized, highlighting his dedication to the team and his ambition to leave a lasting legacy.
