Atletico Madrid secured a resounding 6-0 victory over Sparta Prague in the UEFA Champions League, with Julian Alvarez and Angel Correa scoring two goals each.

Julian Alvarez and Angel Correa stole the show with two goals each as Atletico Madrid thrashed Sparta Prague 6-0 in the UEFA Champions League. The convincing win marked a significant turnaround for Atleti, who had suffered back-to-back defeats to Benfica and Lille earlier in their campaign.

Atletico Madrid's resurgence continued after their impressive 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain on matchday four. They carried that momentum into the clash against Sparta Prague, netting six goals in a dominant display. Alvarez scored his second and Atleti's third on 59 minutes, finishing off a brilliant run with a sublime finish after a clever flick from substitute Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann added the fourth goal with a well-placed drilled effort into the corner, before Angel Correa sealed the win with a quick-fire double on 85 and 89 minutes. The triumph propelled Diego Simeone's side to nine points from five games, while Sparta Prague remain on four points.

Alvarez opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a beautifully curled free-kick into the top corner of Peter Vindahl's goal, after being brought down just outside the box. Marcos Llorente doubled Atleti's lead two minutes from halftime, chipping the ball towards the goal, which Vindahl failed to handle, seemingly deceived by Alexander Sorloth's attempted glancing header.

The second half saw Alvarez score his second goal from close range on 59 minutes, following a give-and-go with Giuliano Simeone. Substitute Antoine Griezmann made it 4-0 on 70 minutes with a low shot inside the box, after a clever one-two with Llorente. Correa then added a late double, first poking in a pass from fellow substitute Samuel Lino and then finishing neatly after a mazy run through the static Sparta defense.

Diego Simeone marked his 700th game in charge of Atletico Madrid by making six changes to the team that beat Alaves 2-1 in La Liga on Saturday. The alterations did little to disrupt Atletico's rhythm, as they dominated the match from the outset.

Sparta Prague's only notable attempt on goal came in the opening minute, courtesy of a weak shot from Kaan Kairinen. Atletico, on the other hand, controlled the tempo of the game, continually probing the fragile defense of the reigning Czech champions. Sparta's defensive woes have been evident in their recent form, with only two wins in their last 12 games across all competitions.

Peter Vindahl, Sparta's goalkeeper, was instrumental in preventing an even heavier defeat for his team. He made several crucial saves, denying close-range efforts from Rodrigo De Paul and Alexander Sorloth in the first half, as well as Diego Simeone's attempt after the break.

The victory marked Atletico's second consecutive away win in the Champions League, following their stunning 2-1 triumph over Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month. With three games remaining in the league phase, Atletico will next face Slovan Bratislava at home on December 10.
