Nigeria to Host Inaugural International Airshow in Lagos, 2025: Boosting Aviation and Economy

Nigeria is set to host its first-ever International Airshow in Lagos State in 2025. The announcement was made by Festus Keyamo, Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, on November 7, 2024, in Abuja. This exciting event aims to bring together visionaries, industry experts, and innovators to explore new opportunities and avenues within the aviation sector.

The airshow is expected to be a game-changer for Nigeria's aviation industry, providing a platform for stakeholders to share ideas, showcase cutting-edge technology, and foster collaborations. With Keyamo at the helm, the event is likely to attract significant attention from global aviation players.

This development is part of Nigeria's broader strategy to boost its economy and infrastructure. The National Development Plan 2021-2025 outlines ambitious goals, including lifting 35 million people out of poverty, creating 21 million new full-time jobs, and growing the country's GDP. The International Airshow is a step towards achieving these objectives.

Objectives of the International Airshow:

Foster Innovation: Provide a platform for industry experts and innovators to share ideas and showcase cutting-edge technology.

Promote Collaboration: Encourage partnerships among stakeholders to drive growth in the aviation sector.

Enhance Economic Development: Contribute to Nigeria's economic growth and infrastructure development.

He said, “Our aspiration is clear: to position Nigeria as a central hub for aviation in Africa, one that will attract investment, foster partnerships, and drive sustainable development across the continent.

“This groundbreaking event is the first of its kind in our nation, and it signifies a bold step forward-a new era for Nigeria and African aviation.”
